The City of New York, in conjunction with the Department of Design and Construction (DDC), commissioned Grimshaw Architects as the lead consultant for the revitalization of the 22-acre Asser Levy Park. Throughout the park a Parkhouse, playground, and public restrooms were also included in the project. The approval process included several city agencies such as DDC, Department of Parks and Recreation, The Office of Management and Budget, among others.
Ximena was part of the Grimshaw Architects design team as an architectural designer for the “Canopy Roof” and provided support to the Back of House and Parkhouse buildings team. Responsibilities included overview of sub-consultants, coordination and detail design of custom construction systems. The project was developed to 75% construction document level before being placed on-hold in 2009.
